The crisis rocking the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) took a turn on Friday as the faction backed by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike sacked the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the party. 

The National Working Committee, NWC of the party has been embroiled in crisis with majority of the members staying with the Umar Damagum-led leadership and four others led by the National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, announcing Alhaji Abdulrahman Muhammed as their factional chairman. 

Recently the BoT under the leadership of former President of the Senate, Adolphus Wabara met and set up a six-man committee to meet with critical stakeholders of the party towards resolving the impasse. 

But reacting to the BoT reconciliation committee, Senator Anyanwu said the meeting was a gathering of friends and associates, noting that many of them were not members of the BoT.

Meanwhile, on Friday, the Abdulrahman faction met at the residence of the FCT minister in Abuja and announced the dissolution of the BoT under Wabara and announced Mao Ohuabunwa as the new chairman. 

They alleged that Wabara had lost his moral authority and political neutrality to serve as the BoT chairman of the party, adding that Isah Dansidi also replaced Senator Ahmed Makarfi as secretary.

Reading the communiqué of the newly constituted BoT, Ohuabunwa said the shakeup became inevitable following the erosion of neutrality by the previous leadership.
