The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP faction loyal to the Federal Capital Territory, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike on Monday held its first National Executive Committee, NEC meeting in Abuja.
During the meeting tagged the 108th NEC Meeting, members deliberated on issues concerning the just concluded National convention and other prevailing political developments within its structures.
The meeting also discussed internal reforms and endorsed the ongoing electronic membership registration (e-registration) to modernize the party’s database, enhance transparency, and boost grassroots participation.
In a communique after the meeting, signed by Haruna Mohammed Jungudo, National Publicity Secretary, NEC approved the 2027 Election Preparations and “adopted the timetable and schedule for party primaries, including Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms.
“It directed full compliance with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) guidelines and timelines for membership register submission, primaries, and dispute resolution. All organs and stakeholders were urged to begin immediate preparations for state primaries in line with the approved schedule.”
Wike taunts Turaki faction
In his speech, the Federal Capital Territory, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike declared that what showed that his faction is the authentic one is because they are conducting their activities at the National Secretariat of the party,Wadata Plaza.
The Minister who is now the National leader of his faction commended the National Working Committee, NWC under the leadership of Abdulrahman Mohammed for securing the PDP Headquarters for members.
Era of uncertainty is over – Natl Chairman
The National Chairman of the faction, Abdulrahman Muhammed in his speech declared that the era of uncertainty in the party is over.
He said the gathering is not that of a party in a distress, “but as a strong political institution. Firmly focused on the future of PDP, which has successfully navigated its internal challenge, and we are fully aligned with the provision of constitution, the electoral act, and all relevant guidelines as issued by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
