The Expanded Emergency Meeting of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by former senate president, Adolphus Wabara met yesterday and opted to push for reconciliation.
The Bot of the Nyesom Wike-led faction chaired by Senator Mao Ohuabunwa also met yesterday and expressed readiness to put an end to all legal battles in favour of reconciliation.
The PDP had been split into two factions since the conduct of the November National Convention of the party in Ibadan Oyo State.
Dissatisfied with the convention, the Federal Capital Territory, FCT minister Nyesom Wike and his allies rejected the development and constituted their own National caretaker committee.
Rising from a two day meeting in Abuja, the Wabara led board said it has opted to put in place measures to reconcile the warring parties.
On Monday, the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja nullified the November convention, compounding the crisis in the party.
However, after a meeting which lasted for two days, the BoT said they disagree with the judgment of the Court of Appeal which invalidated the November 15th to 16th 2025 National Convention that produced the Kabiru Tanimu Turaki-led National Working Committee of the party.
The BoT added that it is awaiting the advice of the party lawyers on the way forward in this regard.
It however acknowledged and resolved to “explore the window provided by the Court of Appeal, Ibadan Division for reconciliation within the party.”
Former Senate President Adolphus Wabara who read the communique said the BoT is conscious of the interest and aspiration of members who are desirous of contesting various positions in the 2027 general elections.

Speaking on Wednesday during the 86th meeting of the Senator Mao Ohuabunwa-led Board of Trustees (BoT), the Chairman of the National Caretaker Committee, Alhaji Abdulrahman Mohammed, said recent judicial outcomes should serve as a final signal for members to sheathe their swords.
Our correspondent reports that the meeting, presided over by Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, served as a platform to outline the party’s roadmap for the coming weeks, including state congresses and the national convention.

As the Board of Trustees, we are not merely participants in party affairs; we are the custodians of its soul, its values, and its constitutional
He said, “We are optimistic that the state congresses scheduled to take place this weekend will further consolidate this process and strengthen our party structures across the federation. These congresses are not merely administrative exercises; they are critical steps in renewing the legitimacy, inclusiveness, and vitality of our great party.
“In the same spirit, preparations are well underway for our National Convention scheduled for the 29th and 30th of March, which will provide an opportunity for the party to further reposition itself and reaffirm its commitment to democratic principles, unity, and national service.
“It is also important to acknowledge the recent judgments of the Court of Appeal, which have affirmed the legality and authority of the National Caretaker Committee led by Alhaji Abdulrahman Mohammed.”
