The three that attended the occasion were those of Kaduna Mr Patrick Yakowa, Bauchi Isa Yuguda and Abia Theodore Orji. A few were represented by their deputies.

 

Consequently, Abia State Governor Theodore Orji who spoke on behalf of the PDP governors apologized on their behalf citing “circumstances beyond control” for their absence.  Due to their poor attendance, the PDP governors could not make a collective financial contribution to the book launch as governor Orji said: “We will meet to take a collective decision and make our contribution later.”

President Goodluck Jonathan who personally attended the occasion extolled the virtues of the PDP national chairman, describing him as a pan Africanist who is committed to the unity and integration of the African continent.

While wishing him many more years ahead, Jonathan expressed hope that with Tukur’s exposure and leadership qualities, the PDP will continue to grow as the leading party on the continent.

Former Information Minister Professor Jerry Gana who presented the book entitled: The Global Villager, a literary biography of the party chairman described Tukur as one of the principal pillars in the formation of the PDP.

Gana who acknowledged Tukur’s role in African integration said having struggled actively in the PDP’s formation and contributed immensely to its growth, Tukur is qualified to chair the party.

In his remarks, the PDP national chairman said his reform agenda for the party will leave no one behind.

He stressed the need for genuine reconciliation in order to move the party forward.
