The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will today inaugurate its 2025 National Convention Organising Committee.

The 110-member committee is chaired by Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, with Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke as vice chairman and Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah as secretary.

In a notice seen by Daily Trust, the party urged its national leaders, stakeholders and members to remain united and work towards the success of its elective convention scheduled for 15–16 November in Ibadan, Oyo State.

However, doubts over the exercise have deepened after Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, a PDP member serving in President Bola Tinubu’s APC administration, warned that unresolved internal disputes could derail the convention.

Speaking at his monthly media chat in Abuja on Monday, Wike dismissed reports that his opposition was linked to the venue.

“The issue of the national convention is not the problem. The issue is the problems leading to the convention, and people should understand that,” he said. “The venue is not the subject matter. The subject matter is: Have you done what you are supposed to do before holding that convention?”

Wike has demanded that the party recognise the South-South zonal congress conducted by his allies despite its rejection by the National Working Committee. He warned that if grievances raised by his camp were not resolved, the convention could be jeopardised.

“If the issues are not well taken care of, there is a likelihood that the convention will not hold,” he cautioned. “If they are not resolved to the satisfaction of the complaint, no problem. But if they are not, of course, they will take action.”

The minister acknowledged that the party had taken preliminary steps, including setting up a committee to address disputes in the South-East and Ebonyi State. But he insisted that only a genuine resolution of outstanding issues would guarantee the convention proceeds as planned.
