In a move aimed at reconciling the warring camps of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the National Working Committee (NWC) rose from their meeting on Thursday under the leadership of the acting Chairman, Ambassador Umar Damagum, and reversed the suspension of some leaders of the party.
Hon Debo Ologunagba, National Publicity Secretary of the party, gave the names of those whose suspension were reversed as former governors Ibrahim Shema (Katsina) and Ayodele Fayose (Ekiti).
Others are former Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim (Ebonyi), Prof Dennis Ityavyar (Benue) and Dr Aslam Aliyu (Zamfara).
The NWC also reversed the referral of the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, to the National Disciplinary Committee.

Masari: Tinubu needs more prayers
The move, the party said, followed an extensive discussion about the recent developments in the party and the fact that the “NWC recognises the imperativeness of a total reconciliation among party leaders and critical stakeholders for a more cohesive party in the overall interest of our teeming members and Nigerians in general.”
Ologunagba said the decision of the Damagum-leadership was “without prejudice to the powers of the NWC to take necessary disciplinary action against any member of the party at any time pursuant to the provisions of the Constitution of the PDP (as amended in 2017).”
Benue PDP sacks masterminds of Ayu’s suspension
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) State Working Committee (SWC) in Benue State has suspended the Igyorov Ward exco of the party in Gboko LGA which a few days ago suspended the National Chairman of the party, Dr Iyorchia Ayu.
Acting state Chairman of PDP, Isaac Mffo, at a press conference in Makurdi yesterday, said the suspension would last for a month with intent to forestall any violence occasioned by the lingering crisis which led to the suspension of Ayu.
Mffo said that the Igyorov Ward executive would be on suspension for one month to allow for peace to be restored in the area, adding that the SEC would henceforth take charge of the affairs of the party in Igyorov.
He said, “That the executive committee of the PDP in Igyorov council ward is hereby suspended for a period of one month pending necessary action which shall be taken to restore sanity, harmony, law and order in the party in the area.
“That the executive committee of the PDP in Igyorov council ward shall hand over all documents and other items in their possession belonging to the party to the State Executive Committee of the party with immediate effect.
“The State Working Committee shall during this period administer the affairs of the party in Igyorov council ward in the best interest of the party, discipline, growth and success.”
