…Ex-Oyo lawmaker, Shina Peller, decamps to PDP
A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain in Kaduna State, Usman Ibrahim (popularly known as Sardaunan Badarawa), has announced his decision to dump the party for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
Ibrahim, who contested on the platform of the PDP for Kaduna Central senatorial seat, announced his resignation in a letter dated December 13 and addressed to his Badarawa Malali ward chairman.
He said, “This decision is coming after due consultations with stakeholders and my supporters across the entire seven LGAs of Kaduna Central District, Kaduna State, and Nigeria before exiting PDP for APC in our determination for the growth and development of my constituency, Kaduna Central, and by extension, the entire state.”
The chieftain stated that he was encouraged by political allies in the National Assembly and the federal cabinet to bring forth his wealth of experience and ability in grassroots mobilization into the APC.
According to him, the most deserving thing to do in the interest of Kaduna State was to join hands with the state governor, Uba Sani.
In a related development, a former House of Representatives member on the platform the APC, Shina Peller is set to join the PDP in Oyo State.
Daily Trust reports that the move was confirmed by Michael Ogunsina, the spokesman of the PDP in Oyo State.
Ogunsina noted that preparations were already underway to organize a grand welcoming ceremony for Peller and his supporters across the 13 LGAs of Oyo North Senatorial District.
“We are excited to welcome Hon. Shina Peller into the Peoples Democratic Party. His wealth of experience and dedication to public service will undoubtedly contribute to the party’s growth and our collective goal of ensuring a prosperous Oyo State,” he said.
Peller was elected to the House of Representatives in 2019 to represent Kajola/Iwajowa/Iseyin/Itesiwaju Federal Constituency but left the APC in 2022 in the build up to the 2023 general elections and contested for Oyo North Senatorial District on the platform of the Accord Party.
