In the same vein, any bona fide Nigerian citizen has the right to legally belong to any duly registered political party and aspire to occupy any elective positions or just belong to any of the political parties without any let or hindrance. This is so globally and Nigeria must not be an exception. It is however frightening that some political assailants and greenhorns will become jittery and ferocious just because some citizens of the nation are exercising their constitutional powers in order not to be disenfranchised. These are inalienable rights of Nigerians and they should not in any way be trampled upon.
Reference must be made of the recent emergence of the strongest opposition party in Nigeria, the All Progressives Congress (APC). Since its debut, the APC has been the darling of all truly peace-loving and patriotic Nigerians. These are selfless and dogged Nigerians whose penchant for the love and welfare of Nigerians, especially the downtrodden is unparalleled. Mention must be made of the resilient co-founder of the APC, Governor Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko of Sokoto State. His departure from the PDP caused his former party to persecute him, like in the case of Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State and others.
This has, however, not dissuaded Wamakko and his colleagues to relentlessly sustain their people-oriented policies and programmes. He has always reiterated the commitment of the APC to bring the desired change in Nigeria. The governor and indeed the APC have shown that the nation is adrift and the time to salvage it is now. The APC, its members and chieftains across Nigeria have shown that their love for Nigeria is ceaseless  in spite of any intimidation by any doubting Thomases. The end result will be a reminiscence of David and Goliaths’s bout. Consequently, the APC and all its candidates will emerge victorious, at all levels in 2015, to salvage Nigeria.
Wamakko, being a figurative eagle in the nation’s democratic and political landscape, has just attracted another one, the number four citizen of Nigeria, Speaker of the House of Reps, Rt.Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal. This is indeed a good omen for Nigeria’s democracy. It happened in recognition of the selfless and flawless style of leadership of Tambuwal who has successfully kept the nation’s topmost lower House in one piece in spite of its mixed-grill nature. The House has been kept in one piece by the youthful Speaker and Nigeria is the better for it.
Back to the PDP-led central government, which is a colossal failure, a myriad of problems have indeed enveloped Nigeria, ranging from insecurity, abject poverty, corruption to the near-absence of badly-needed social infrastructure. Why then should the Speaker, Rt.Hon. Aminu WazIri Tambuwal hesitate to freely and legally exercise and enjoy his fundamental rights as guaranteed by the constitution?  President Jonathan and his cohorts certainly know the answer.
The action of the Nigeria Police, DSS and other security agencies on Nov. 20 at the National Assembly was an assault on democracy and an affront on the sensibilities of any right-thinking Nigerian. It is indeed ironic, when officials of the state who are supposed to protect, turn against citizens. In spite of the immunity of the Speaker and his duly elected colleagues who are representing the entire Nigeria, they were blocked from gaining entrance into the National Assembly. It appears we now have a nation within a nation.
But Nigerians were happy that the members of the House of Reps, led by Tambuwal, were able to defeat the agents of destruction. They indeed held their plenary and they have since commenced the process of impeaching the president.
Wamakko, Tambuwal, the APC and other truly-patriotic Nigerians indeed have consolations in the fact that they are on the right course and this is evident in the outrage of Nigerians and the international community to the most recent assault on democracy and the ill-treatment meted to Tambuwal. Just like he enthused on Nov.21 in Sokoto when he bought his gubernatorial form under the APC, he remains resolute and committed. He has said his priority if elected as a governor of the state in 2015 is to work towards ensuring the even socio-economic development of the state and Nigeria, in general. The writing on the wall is clear and Insha Allah, Tambuwal will succeed Wamakko come May, 29, 2015. Wamakko will also be the next Senator representing the Sokoto Central Senatorial Zone under the people’s party, the APC. Both their intentions are to salvage Nigeria from the clutches of the PDP, so we say carry on, even as the PDP continues to sneeze.
