PDP sweeps Nassarawo-Binyreri, Uba/Gaya constituencies in Adamawa

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Adamawa on Sunday declared the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as winners of the bye-election in Nassarawo-Binyeri as well as the supplementary election in Uba/Gaya state constituencies.
The Returning Officer for Uba/Gaya state constituency election, Dr Adedeji Ahmed of Modibbo Adama University of Technology (MAUTECH) Yola, announced Abbas Aminu Iya of the PDP as winner having scored the highest votes of 7,251 to defeat the runner up, Mohammed Hayatu Atiku of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who scored 7,238.
Also, the Returning Officer for Nassarawo-Binyeri State Assembly Constituency bye-election, Dr Sulaiman Zarma of the Federal College of Education (FCE) Yola, declared the PDP candidate, Umar Nashon Gubi as the winner.
Gubi polled 10,733 votes to defeat his APC counterpart, Mahmud Dabo who got 7,184 votes.
The election was shifted to yesterday following the death of the then incumbent legislator and APC candidate, Adamu Kwanate, who passed away two weeks to earlier scheduled general election.
