Responding to questions at Government House Lokoja yesterday, shortly after a meeting of the Kogi Elders Advisory Council to reposition the party in the state, Idris said there was no cause for alarm over what the opposition was doing.
“Naturally, there should be an opposition, and we should expect that opposition should do their best, but that notwithstanding, PDP is still at the top and there is no doubt about that.
We have had this kind of opposition in the past who claimed they are going to sweep every position during election, but in the end, the PDP still carried the day,” he said.
Idris, who is the chairman of elders’ council, said the meeting was organized to discuss the way forward for the party and reconcile aggrieved members.
Speaking on speculations that he would defect to the opposition party, the former governor said he is still a member of the PDP and would never abandon it.
