The Peace Corps of Nigeria has donated food items to Aisha Buhari special school for Internally Displaced Persons and Vulnerable Children in Gwarinpa.

Speaking during the donation of the items, representative of the National Commandant of Peace Corps,  Marcel Ezenwoye, said the donation was part of the corporate  social responsibility of the  organisation.

He said the Peace Corps decided to choose the First Lady’s pet project because her objective of setting up the school was in line with that of the corps which is youth development towards nation building.

He said, “Pet projects are being embarked upon by first ladies of various state governments but none can be compared or given reference to supporting vulnerable and under-privileged children who are displaced unconditionally, lost their parents and rendered homeless as that being embarked upon by Aisha Buhari.’’

He added that the Peace Corps has existed for over 18 years, during which it has advocated to empower, develop and provide gainful employment for the youths of the country.

In his address, the school principal,  Ben Onwudinjo, commended the Peace Corps for the donation.
