Engaging Borders SRD has launched the Delimi PROSPER Project, an eight-month initiative designed to address natural resource-based conflicts in north-central and north-west Nigeria. 

The project will run in Kaduna and Plateau states, focusing on youth engagement, digital learning, and community advocacy.

The initiative targets some of the region’s most pressing challenges, including farmer-herder clashes, rural banditry, and identity-based violence—issues organisers note have been aggravated by climate change and the spread of misinformation. PROSPER stands for Promoting Resource Optimisation and Sustainable Peace for Environmental Resilience.

Central to the project is a Community Peacebuilding Workshop (CPW), which will be delivered through a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) and reinforced by youth-led follow-up campaigns in both states. Participants, aged 18 to 35, will engage in blended learning that combines online training with community-based activities.L

Engaging Borders SRD’s Executive Director, writer and entrepreneur Richard Ali, said the programme seeks to empower young people with skills to mediate disputes and foster dialogue.

“We believe that empowering youth with the right tools and platforms can transform them into active peacebuilders in their communities,” Ali said.

“We would also like to research and centre more efficient natural resource management in the context of internal security threats and peacebuilding.”
