Peaceful 2019 polls lies in prayers, says Gombe aspirant

The Gombe State governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Umar Bamusa, has appealed to religious leaders to continue to preach and promote ethno-religious tolerance in the build up to the 2019 general elections.

Bamusa in a Sallah message Tuesday, also urged Muslims and all Nigerians to use the occasion of Eid to pray for the successful conduct of the 2019 general elections.

He called on politicians to imbibe the spirit of tolerance and sacrifice in order to deepen democracy in the country.

"Our religious leaders should take advantage of the season and preach peace, unity and tolerance so as to have peaceful and successful general elections.

"On my part, as has been proven in our rallies and gatherings, I will continue to play politics with all sense of decorum devoid of hatred, animosity or bitterness. The lives and safety of our people must remain sacrosanct and must be protected at all cost.

"I therefore urge my political colleagues both in Gombe State and the country to exhibit true sportsmanship and put the concerns of our people ahead of anything as we match to the primary elections soon," he said.
