Outgoing president of the union Comrade Babatunde Ogun, who made the vow at a press conference in Lagos on the union’s 4th Triennial Delegate Conference, noted that  casualisation is deceptive, exploitative and dehumanizing .
“We hereby advocate decent working conditions, fair and adequate compensation and benefits for all categories of our members with unrestricted legitimate right for workers to union activities, collective bargaining and other lawful engagements in resolving issues with social partners,” Ogun said.
He disclosed that his union has partnered its sister organization, NUPENG and the Ministry of Labour and Productivity to gazette guidelines for contract employment in the oil and gas industry in the country.
He advocated the need for improved budgetary allocation to the Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity in Nigeria, explaining that doing so would enable the ministry perform its statutory function of reconciliation and monitoring compliance of labour laws and agreements as well as providing succour for Nigeria workers.
