The Northwestern zonal Regional Manager of the fund, Abdul Musa Tasha, said the donation was part of the fund’s corporate social responsibility to intervene in the area of education.
Handing over the items at UK Bello Memorial Primary School, Paiko, Paikoro Local Government Area of the state, Tasha said the items included 9,000 branded note books and 20,000 biros for primary schools pupils.
The state Pension Board’s Permanent Secretary, Yahaya Benu, said the gesture of ARM was a step in the right direction as government alone cannot fund education.
He said: “Running of education today is capital intensive so intervention from well-meaning individuals and organisation is critical, if the sector is to be well developed. I hope the schools and the pupils will make good use of the materials.”
He urged corporate organisations to toe the line of ARM in exercising corporate social responsibility as that will complement government’s efforts in critical sectors of national development.
