Pensioners seek support for completion of secretariat

Pensioners have appealed to the FCT minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello and members of the public for support to complete their chapter’s secretariat.

Speaking with newsmen in Gwagwalada at the awards and fund-raising ceremony of the Nigerian Union of Pensioners (NUP), FCT chapter, the acting chairman of NUP, Elder Olukosu James Babalola, said they needed a place of their own to operate from.

“We have been renting office space and we have suffered embarrassment and shame so we need a place we can call our own. At our age we should not be moving about,” he said.

He thanked the minister for ensuring that FCT pensioners were paid as at when due, and urged him to always support pensioners whenever they called for assistance.

In his remarks, the representative of the minister, Udo Samuel Atang, a director in the office of the FCTA permanent secretary, appreciated the pensioners’ disposition on issues in the territory, assuring them that they were always welcome to offer advice on matters affecting the nation’s capital.
