The Nigeria Union of Pensioners

The Nigeria Union of Pensioners yesterday accused the federal and state governments of deliberately sending its members to “untimely early graves.”

Its president, Abel Afolayan, who addressed reporters in Abuja after their National Executive Council meeting, said:  “May I clearly state this today, that it is not corona or any other virus that is killing pensioners, elderly people and senior citizens generally, it is government actions and inactions that are sending them to their untimely early graves,” Afolayan said.

The NUP president, who said the union had visited some state governors about the development, accused them of owing pensioners between 24 and 40 monthly pensions.
