The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has implemented another major cut in the price of petrol, reducing its ex-depot price from N828 to N699 per litre.

This represents a N125 reduction that pushes petrol prices below the N800 mark for the first time in months.

The reduction showed a 15.58 per cent drop in the refinery’s petrol benchmark price.

It was learnt that the new pricing took effect on December 11, 2025, marking the 20th petrol price adjustment implemented by the refinery this year as Dangote continues to fine-tune domestic supply dynamics.

A spokesman for Dangote, Tony Chiejina, when contacted, confirmed the slash in price.

The latest price slash, sources said, was carried out to ease transportation costs ahead of Christmas and New Year festivities, when millions of Nigerians travel across states to reunite with family.

This development came barely five days after the refinery’s chairman, Aliko Dangote, reaffirmed his commitment to keeping fuel prices “reasonable and competitive” despite global market instability and ongoing smuggling across Nigeria’s borders.

Speaking after a closed-door meeting with President Bola Tinubu on December 6, Dangote said petrol price would continue to fall as the refinery ramps up output and competes directly with imported products.

In reaction to the refinery’s new pricing template, market trackers on Petroleumprice.ng reported that several private depots also adjusted their ex-depot rates downward.

Sigmund Depot reduced its price by N4 to N824 per litre; Bulk Strategic implemented a N3 cut; TechnoOil introduced one of the steepest reductions with a N15 drop.

Other depots, including A.A. Rano, NIPCO and Aiteo, also slashed their prices.

However, checks by our correspondent showed that the prices have not reflected at retail stations in the state yet.

Currently, a litre of fuel is sold between N890 and N910. Up North, petrol is still sold above N950 per litre.
