It came amidst reports from Sierra Leone and Liberia that people were staying away from public health facilities to seek medical attention “for fear of being quarantined,” said Wilson Erhun, secretary general of the West African Postgraduate College of Pharmacists.
The college said the best way to contain the spread of Ebola should be on “those credible locations where the average person will routinely go and get treatment and consequently get information,” said Erhun.
The college hopes to mobilise pharmacists in “dismantling ignorance that leads to denial, fear and panic, and ensure they are not themselves victims of the disease” he said at a workshop in Abuja targeting pharmacists in northern states of Nigeria.
