The Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN) on Friday sealed 343 Pharmacies, Patent and Proprietary Medicine Vendors (PPMVS) in Kebbi State. Director, Inspection and Monitoring of the Council, Mrs. Anthonia O. Aruya while briefing journalists in Birnin Kebbi said they violated the council’s law and regulations.
She said after five days of inspection of 498, most of the sealed pharmacies were found guilty of improper handling of controlled substances, unhygienic environment, poor documentation and dispensing of ethical- prescription of drugs among others. She wondered how they were able to handle medicines in their facilities and the attendant serious public health implications.
