Lawmaker who represented the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in the 9th Senate, Philip Aduda, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a resignation letter dated March 17, addressed to the party leadership in his Karu ward, the lawmaker did not specify his next destination.

In a copy of the resignation letter, which was obtained by our correspondent, Aduda said he resigned from the PDP due to the crisis in the party.

He said he remained grateful for the opportunity the party gave him to serve in various elective positions.

However, close associates told our correspondent that he is expected to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the coming days.

Since his defeat in the 2023 general elections by Senator Ireti Kingibe, Aduda has been working closely with the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike,  in an unofficial capacity.

Wike has, on several occasions, criticised the performance of tKingibe, vowing that she would not return to the Red Chamber.
