The FCT Police Command has arrested six suspects for alleged involvement in phone snatching and robbing of tricycle passengers of their belongings.

The suspects are among the 24 suspects paraded by the command on Thursday.

The police said one of the suspects, Abdulwahab Ibrahim, 23, was arrested by ‘good Samaritans’ who handed him over to Dutse Alhaji Police Division on September 13 for stabbing and snatching one Infinix phone from one Adams Dennis at Dutse Bafuma.

“Following his arrest, police detectives immediately launched a discreet investigation that led to the arrest of two of his cohorts, Ibrahim Farouk ‘m’ 20 years old and Usman Oladele 18 years old.

“While Ibrahim Farouk was arrested by police detectives at his Zuba hideout, Usman Oladele was arrested during a robbery operation by a police patrol team at Dutse Zone 7 in possession of a knife.

Meanwhile, effort has been intensified to recover the stolen phone and arrest of the fleeing members of the gang”, the command’s Deputy Commissioner of Police (Admin), Rabiu Ladodo said.

Ladodo, who was representing the commissioner of police, Bala Ciroma, said operatives of the command on September 21 also arrested one Paul Enenche, 25, for attacking two women with cutlass and robbing them of a bag containing the sum of N20,000 and an Itel phone.

He added that effort is being intensified to arrest his cohort and recover the victim’s bag.

Also, “on 11th September, 2018 at about 2130, police operatives arrested one Kelvin Nnamdi ‘m’ 27 years and Reuben Adaan ‘m’ 23 years for robbing a tricycle passenger of her phone at Apo,” he said, adding that one of the suspects was arrested by the police patrol team at the scene of a tricycle accident, caused by the suspects while trying to rob their victim.

He added that Kelvin Nnamdi, was however arrested at his Apo hideout during police investigation. Explaining how the suspects operated, Ladodo said they normally pose as passengers before attacking and robbing tricycle (Keke NAPEP) operators and riders of their valuables, adding that effort is being intensified to recover the victim’s phone.

He said all the suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
