One of Nigeria’s most celebrated photographers, George Okoro, has launched Go Talent Hunt: Season One, a revolutionary talent competition designed to discover, educate, and empower the next generation of Nigerian photographers.

The initiative, which officially began registration on June 9 and will run until June 27, 2025, targets aspiring photographers from across the country—regardless of the kind of device they use. Whether shooting with a smartphone or a professional camera, participants will be judged based on their creativity, technical skill, and storytelling ability.

The competition will unfold over six weeks entirely on social media. Contestants will face weekly tasks carefully designed to test their artistic vision and execution. Their submissions will be evaluated by a panel of industry experts alongside public voting, leading to a grand prize of ₦10 million (terms and conditions apply).

Speaking at the launch, George Okoro said the vision behind the competition is to build a platform that goes beyond recognition. “I believe that talent knows no bounds, and through Go Talent Hunt, we aim to nurture the next generation of photographers who will redefine the visual landscape of Nigeria,” he said. “Our goal is not just to find a winner but to educate and empower young talents, giving them the tools to thrive in a competitive environment.”

The project is being hailed as a much-needed boost to Nigeria’s fast-growing creative economy. Organisers are calling on media outlets, the arts community, and the general public to support the initiative and celebrate the wealth of visual talent emerging from across the country.

Further updates, submissions, and winner announcements will be shared via George Okoro’s official Instagram and other social media platforms
