A former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has arrived in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, for a visit.
This comes few days after he defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Amaechi, a former governor of Rivers, was welcomed by a large crowd of ADC supporters, who gathered at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa, despite heavy rainfall.
Daily Trust gathered that the supporters had arrived as early as 8 a.m., dancing and drumming in the rain until Amaechi touched down around noon.

Addressing the supporters shortly after he touched down, Amaechi declared that he is now a full member of ADC, saying the party has come to stay in the state.
He also criticized the state’s history of election manipulation and pledged that such practices would not be tolerated in the 2027 general elections.
