A non-governmental organ-isation in Osun State, AL-IHSAN Islamic Welfare Foundation, has donated 10 typewriters and 10 Marburg Braille writing slates to 20 students of the School for Persons with Special Needs in Osogbo, Osun State, to aid learning.
The items were presented to the pupils during a brief ceremony in the school recently. The Headmaster, Mr. Amos Olasore, said the typewriters and the Marburg slates would simplify teaching. Delivering a special lecture on the occasion, the President of Muslim Students Society of Nigeria, Osun Area Council, Malam Abdul Basir Olasunkanmi, admonished public spirited individuals to always identify with the pupils and motivate them to see hope in their future. A traditional ruler in the state, the Aragbiji of Iragbiji, Oba Abdul-Rashhed Olabomi, who was represented by the Balogun of Iragbiji, Chief Mustapha Olatundun, urged other NGOs in the state to emulate AL-IHSAN.
Also speaking on behalf of the state’s Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Mr. Abdul-Fatai Kolawole asked organisations and individuals to support the efforts of government on education of physically challenged pupils.
