Hele’s NPL debut was delayed for several months because his transfer papers did not come through until he was granted a provisional clearance last week.

And he did not disappoint when he finally made a long-awaited debut Sunday in front of adoring fans at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano as Pillars beat Warri Wolves 1-0 to revive flagging title hopes.

“Hele was exceptional against Warri Wolves in only his first game for us. He was very professional and purposeful. Personally, he was my man of the match and a lot of fans also hailed his performance,” Pillars spokesman, Idris Malikawa, told MTNFootball.com.

“I would score him seven out of 10 in his first match and he should start on Sunday against Lobi in Jalingo.

“He’s really a breath of fresh air in the team and shows that the coach is listening to calls for him to give other squad players a chance in the first team.”

Officials have also informed MTNFootball.com that Pillars will apply for the license of Hele from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) so that he could also feature for them in the Champions League.

“We have already included him in our squad for the Champions League and so we will now demand for his license since we have his clearance,” said a top official.

Pillars travel to Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca between March 18-20 in the second round of the CAF Champions League with the return fixture billed for Kano a fortnight later.
