Feverpitch gathered that Kano State Deputy Governor Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje while launching the Glo/Kano Pillars FC branded SIM and recharge cards at the Government House Kano yesterday said the Technical Adviser, goalkeeper trainer and Physiotherapist would come from Italy.
Dr. Ganduje said the Technical Adviser, goalkeeper trainer and physiotherapist would be in Pillars as part of the MOU that had been signed between the club and GSports consultants in Dubai.
He said the salaries of the expatriates would be paid by GSports Consultants which had also agreed to produce kits worth one million dollars for Kano Pillars FC.
Ganduje disclosed that the foreign Technical Adviser would work closely with a highly experienced Nigerian coach to be appointed soon.
The Deputy Governor also announced government’s purchase of the new branded Glo/Kano Pillars FC SIM and recharge cards worth N2m for distribution to Pillars fans just as he urged all fans of the club who are within and outside Kano to patronise the new branded cards in order to improve the club’s revenue.
On his part the Executive Secretary Globacom, Ibrahim Fadupe said the SIM and recharge cards would be produce with Glo/Pillars logo and anybody using them will get tariff subsidy per second and a promo would be introduced and Pillars will also benefit from it.
He commended Kano government for its efforts in developing sports in the state and congratulated Kano Pillars FC, the people and government of Kano for winning the Glo Nigeria Premier League back to back.
In his reaction, Chairman of the club, Alhaji Abba Yola expressed gratitude to Glo for selecting Pillars to be the first club in the country for the programme and described it as a welcome development.
Yola said it is in line with Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso’s plans to make the club less dependent on government for funding.
