Apart from security personnel and officials from the two clubs, the vociferous Kano fans would not be allowed into the stadium.

This was disclosed yesterday evening to Feverpitch by the Media Officer of Kano Pillars, Malam Idris Malikawa.

He explained that the directive was handed down by the Nigeria Premier League following the recent bombings in the ancient city which claimed several lives.

Malikawa said the match would now hold between 2 pm to 4 pm to enable every one depart the stadium before the commencement of the curfew which has been imposed on the town.

He said: “Although we wanted to look for an alternative venue for the match, the NPL asked us to play at our venue on the condition that it must be played behind closed doors.

“Consequently, the match will be played behind closed doors and it would start from 2pm. It is our fervent hope that everything would go according to plans and before the curfew commences, we would have all departed to our various destinations.

“Even though the match is going to be played behind closed doors, there is going to be adequate security for those who would be allowed into the stadium”.

Malikawa said despite the fact that the match is going to be played behind closed doors, Pillars will triumph over Kwara United.

He said the players have resolved to win the match despite the challenges being faced by them as a result of the recent development in Kano.

“We have a lot of challenges due to the recent unfortunate incident in Kano which claimed several lives but the players are willing to put everything behind them. They have expressed a strong desire to pick the maximum points against Kwara United”, he stated.
