Last Wednesday, the NPL board in compliance with article 4.2(3) of the statues expelled Ocean Boys from the league for missing more than two matches and cancelled the club’s played and un-played matches.

Consequently, there was deduction of points from matches involving Ocean boys and that automatically gave Pillars the advantage over title contenders like Rangers and Lobi Stars.

Thus, Pillars last match against Sunshine Stars which they lost 1-2 did not matter as no other club could over-take them on 61 points.

Speaking to Feverpitch yesterday, Galadima said Pillars deserve their crown because they won the league with legitimate points accrued to them during season.

He insisted that had it been his club did not win the right points, it wouldn’t have been crowned champions of the Nigeria Premier League.

Galadima said those who contended for the title with his club should accept defeat in good fate and stop finding ways to fault NPL’s compliance with the statues.

“We are the true champions. We won the league with the right points. Had it been we did not get our points legitimately, nobody would have crowned us champions.

“Moreover, with or without points deduction, we would have still won the league. We were going to win because God had destined it so”.

He, therefore, commended the NPL for respecting the statues of the league as he said anything contrary to that would have made nonsense of the league.

The Pillars boss said with that decision, clubs will learn to respect the rules of the league as they would not like to be caught on the wrong side of the law.

He maintained that if Ocean Boys were left off the hook, other clubs would have in future attempted to violate the rule in order to see what the NPL would do.

“I want to commend the NPL for respecting the statues. Now the board has maintained its credibility and this is good for the league. Had they done anything to the contrary, greater damage would have come the way of the league.

“In future, no club would violate the rules because what happened to Ocean is going to serve as a deterrent. I repeat, no club would try it because the penalty is there for defaulters to face”, he noted.
