Water from a burst pipe in Wuse Zone 3 in Abuja has continued to cause inconvenience for residents, as well as government workers and businesses in the area.

It was learnt that the pipe, which burst about three months ago, has led to erosion which led to the barricading at the two ends of the main road in the area, and also resulted in water supply interruption in some neighbourhoods.

Some federal government and FCT agencies affected by the development include the headquarters of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Federal Character Commission (FCC), National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) and the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).

Residents who spoke to City & Crime expressed fear over how the erosion kept expanding, wondering why the repair work of the site had been delayed.

Peter Ajisape, who works in the area, said most workers with the agencies could no longer take their vehicles to their offices.

Emmanuel Abraham, an agent with NIMC, said, “Following the incident, officials went to the site and barricaded it. We expected that they would come back to do the work, but we are yet to see them.”

Contacted, the acting General Manager (GM) of the FCT Water Board, Daniel Salka, said following the incident, the board had done its part by shutting down the pipe’s water supply, adding that a letter was written to the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) which was expected to do the civil work.
