When it comes to fashion, Nigerian women are never left behind, especially when it comes to keeping up with the latest trends, whether it has to do with clothing or our hair. However, it is no longer news that wigs are now trending in different styles and texture with the latest now being braided hair wigs, used by all females, irrespective of the age.
However, because of our busy schedules, we find it difficult to always change our hair-dos on a regular basis. As such, we resort to using caps, or better still, wigs. This trend has made most ladies to prefer the hair wigs especially the braided one. Some who spoke to YOUTHVILLE gave their reasons.
An undergraduate, Sandra Uyim in Abuja said, “I truly love these latest hair wigs because they are beautiful and they also make you look matured. I love the way they look because after wearing them, if you do not look closely, you will not know I am wearing a wig.”
Another respondent, Ese Gift said she prefers the braided hair wig to the weavon wig because, “it doesn’t generate heat like the weavon and it is easier to maintain. I was using the weavon wigs but I stopped because it caused a lot of heat and headache for me.”
For others, they prefer the hairstyle because its affordable.
Confirming this, hair stylist Uche Glory belongs to that school of thought. “I am a hair stylist, most ladies who come to my shop prefer buying the braid wigs than the weavon; and I understand why. This is because these braid wigs cost less.”
Concurring with Gift, Uche added that these wigs are easier to maintain. “These wigs are easier to maintain than the weavon caps. I know because I have both and I prefer using the braid wigs than the weavon.”
