The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Labour, Employment and Productivity, Senator Diket Satso Plang, has expressed sorrow over the death of seven students of the University of Jos (UNIJOS) in a road accident in Plateau State.

In a condolence statement, the senator described the incident as a tragic loss to Plateau State and the nation, noting that the death of young and promising students represents a setback to Nigeria’s future.

Plang prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased and asked God to grant strength and comfort to their families as they mourn their loss. He also wished the injured students a speedy recovery.

He said the accident, which involved the president of the National Association of Plateau State Students (NAPSS), has deeply affected the university community and residents of the state.

The lawmaker urged relevant stakeholders to support the bereaved families during the difficult period, stressing the need for collective compassion and solidarity.

Plang reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare of young Nigerians, emphasizing that the safety, education and well-being of students must remain a priority for leaders at all levels of government.
