‘Plans to stop PDP from presenting presidential candidate has failed’

Interim National Working Committee, (INWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP under the leadership of Kabiru Tanimu Turaki has said plans by some leaders of the Nyesom Wike led faction of the party to hold the party down so that it cannot produce a presidential candidate has failed.

The INWC was responding to claims by the minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike who in a media chat on Wednesday accused the Turaki caretaker committee of defying court judgement and challenged the Turaki-led leaders to open an account in the name of the party.

National Publicity Secretary of the Interim National Working Committee Ini Ememobong, said the Minister is not happy that they are already operating the accounts of the PDP.

He said, “We understand his frustration about the commencement of the sale of forms and activities to hold primaries and eventually a national convention where a credible Nigerian will emerge as the Presidential Candidate.”

“The sale of forms is ongoing, and there is nothing Wike can do about it. His boast of dealing with banks that will open accounts for us is not true as he is already aware that we are operating accounts of the party, which is why his group of friends are receiving money through private accounts.” the statement said.
