Plateau: 50 unemployed persons trained on environmental beautification

The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) is currently training about 50 unemployed persons under environmental beautification scheme in Plateau state.

The participants who were drawn from the 17 local government areas of the state were during the weekend sensitized on hard and soft beautification and Plaster of Paris (POP).

In his speech during the training, the Coordinator of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) in the state, Mr Mato Markus said the training was necessary because vocational skills is central to human survival.

He said, “In this training that would last for the next three months, the participants would be trained on hard landscaping, which included pavement of blocks; soft landscaping, which involves how to use flowers for decoration and POP – a soft mixture of sand and cement for decoration of walls, ceilings and other structures,”

In her remarks, the representative of Special Public Work of the Directorate’s headquarters, Mrs Beatrice Ordu urged the participants to be serious with the training because what they would learn would make them to be self-reliant in the future.

She said, “I want you to be serious with this training, when you put all your efforts you wouldn’t regret it”.

“This is a wonderful opportunity, because there are a lot of graduates for five, six years who don’t have jobs, therefore use this little stipend given to you, it would help you to be self-employed in future.” She added.
