Plateau Assembly lifts suspension on impeached speaker, 5 others

The Plateau State House of Assembly has lifted the suspension on the ousted Speaker, Abok Nuhu Ayuba, and five other members of the house.

Hon. Abok and the five members were suspended by the House on November 1, 2021 following the plenary they convened at a community hall in Zawan, Jos South LGA of the state during the crisis that rocked the house late last year.

The House, under the speakership of Yakubu Sanda, described the sitting convened by the then speaker as illegal and called for their suspension.

The lifting of the suspension at plenary, yesterday, followed a motion moved by the House Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. Philip Wallok, at the plenary.

Hon. Wallok said the fact that negotiations had started between the parties and agreements reached, the House should consider lifting the suspension and allow them to participate in subsequent sessions.

The speaker of the House, lifted the suspension after listening to contributions from members.

Our correspondent reports that those affected by the suspension include  Hon. Nuhu Abok Ayuba, late Hon. Henry Longs, Hon. Dangtong Timothy, Hon. Musa Agah, Hon. Bala Fwanje and Hon Nanbol Listic.
