The March 8th Initiative, also known as Friends of Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, has organised a free eye care outreach treatment and surgeries for communities in Plateau State.
According to the organisers of the programme, the outreach, which started in Jos, was part of the activities by friends of the Vice President to mark his birthday that was celebrated on March 8th, 2021.
Speaking during the flag-off of the exercise, Dr Ebi Awosika said that they had been holding the outreaches across the six geopolitical zones to mark the Vice President’s birthday.
Also speaking, Dr Valle Lohdip, Coordinator of the March 8th Initiative in North Central, said that the ophthalmological intervention was for those that have eye problem and needed quick attention.
“What is important for us is operating on those with cataract cases.We are expected to handle 750 cataract cases and dispense 500 reading glasses,” he said.
