Majema Community in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State on Tuesday rehabilitated a road crossing the area. 

The community also constructed various speed breakers on the road to limit speed especially by motorcycle riders who often drive on top speed causing accidents.

Our correspondent, who visited the area, reports that the road links many communities within Jos metropolis with many people plying for different transactions.

Mustafa Idris, a member of the community told Benue/Plateau that though Governor Simon Lalong had during his first tenure rehabilitated the road but it got worse during the last rainy season leading to accidents and discomfort for the community.

He said one Alh. Salisu Mulki, who out of concern for the condition of the road, bore all the financial responsibility of the rehabilitation including the building of the ramps.

He said, “Thousands of motorcycle riders ply the road. It is a road that links many communities.

“Those riders often hit men and women including kids. We thank him for the gesture.

“It is not easy for an individual, especially at this time, to spend a huge amount of money for the public. Many people have been thanking and praying for him.”

Idris, however, called on other capable individuals in other communities to emulate Alhaji Salisu Mulki, adding that people should not always wait for the government to do everything for them as other responsibilities were huge for the government saying that “You have to wake and help yourself.”
