Plateau killings: Evidence of abysmal failure of leadership-Atiku

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has said the killing of 86 persons in the Church of Christ In Nations (COClN) and Regional Church Council (RCC), in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, Plateau State is an evidence of abysmal failure of leadership in the country.

DailyTrust reports on Sunday that the Police Command in Plateau confirmed the killing of 86 people in attacks on Razat, Ruku, Nyarr, Kura and Gana-Ropp villages of Gashish District in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area.

Reacting,the Presidential aspirant in a series of tweets said it was obvious from the attacks and the reprisals that the country is experiencing a historically abysmal failure of leadership.

He called on the government to be alive to its primary responsibility of protection of lives and property.

"What is obvious from these attacks and the reprisals is that Nigeria is experiencing a historically abysmal failure of leadership. When people don’t feel they are protected or given justice, they resort of self help, and innocent people lose their lives as a result.

"The security of lives & property is primary role of government & its time our FG takes its responsibilities seriously, by not just deepening security of these known conflict areas, but also reassuring all Nigerians that when people murder innocents, they are brought to justice."
