Plateau killings: NSCDC arrests man with gun on church premises

The Plateau State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested a young man reportedly found with a gun within the premises of a church in Bokkos Local Government Area of the state.

The spokesperson of the command,
ASP NR Rimvyok, confirmed the arrest of the suspect to Daily Trust in a telephone conversation on Monday morning.

He said, “At the moment, there is nothing to report yet as investigations are still ongoing. So, we don’t have anything to report yet, until after the investigation.”

Asked if the suspect was arrested by the NSCDC personnel, Rimvyok said “yes, he was.”

Our correspondent reports that the suspect’s arrest comes amid a surge of attacks and killings in Bokkos and Bassa LGAs of the state.

Between March 28 and April 2, five communities were attacked, resulting in the deaths of over 70 persons in the area.

Daily Trust gathered that the suspect was apprehended on Sunday at about 8:30 a.m. during a routine patrol by the NSCDC operatives around the church compound.

Our correspondent gathered that the suspect has been transferred to the NSCDC headquarters in Jos for further investigation.
