The union’s Chairman in the state, Mr Danjuma Jeji, said in Jos that the measure was aimed at securing commuters and property at the parks.
Jeji said “the union acquired the gadgets since parks have become targets of attacks,’’ adding that it had also commenced training of its members in the use of the gadgets.
The chairman added that the decision was in compliance with the directive given by the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Chris Olakpe, to fortify motor parks and markets, after a meeting with union officials.
It would be recalled that the commissioner of police in the state had directed the union to acquire metal detectors and mirror screening equipment that would be used at the gates of parks to screen passengers before entering the parks.
The commissioner said the police command in the state was ready to teach the union members how to operate the gadgets to guard against attacks. (NAN)
