Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has distributed wheelchairs and other mobility aids worth millions of naira to people living with disabilities (PLWDs).

At the brief ceremony, AbdulRazaq, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Prince Abdulkadir Mahe, said the action was to improve their living standards, be self-reliant and productive members of the public.

He called on public-spirited individuals, and corporate bodies to complement the government’s efforts at improving the living conditions of persons with disabilities.

“With such skills and support, we hope to guarantee their dignity as human beings who don’t need to beg for alms to survive. Some have also been appointed as permanent secretaries among other top government positions,” he said.

Some of the beneficiaries, Mrs Adesola Alasi, Omotosho Badmus, Mr Shittu Muyideen and Rihanat Taiye Yinusa, prayed for and appreciated the governor’s gesture, love and passion for the PLWDs in the state.

In her address, Commissioner for Social Development, Mrs Opeyemi Folashade, said the approval granted by the governor was to ease their movement and ensure full participation and inclusiveness in society.
