Poets are gearing up to receive a cash prize of N100,000 at the Abuja Literary Society (ALS) Slam holding on the first Friday of August.

The ‘Spoken Word’ form of poetry contest will be the second this year as it is held every four months to encourage more persons to practice the art of poetry.

At the competition, the winner gets a cash prize of N100,000.  The ALS Slam consists of three rounds, and each contestant is expected to prepare three poems should they advance to the 2nd and 3rd rounds.

The organisers in a statement said participation is free as prospective contestants can email [email protected] to get registered.
