Police, army probe alleged shooting of soldier

The Bauchi State police command has constituted a dedicated investigation team of experienced detectives in collaboration with the military police to unearth the circumstances surrounding the report of the recent killing of an army officer by a police inspector in the state.

The public relations officer of the command, CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, made this known while briefing journalists on behalf of the police commissioner, Sani-Omolori Aliyu at the command headquarters in Bauchi on Friday.

Wakil said the committee had been tasked with collecting and assessing all the relevant information surrounding the remote and immediate causes of the unfortunate incident.

He said the investigators would adhere to all professional standards and diligent processes to establish a reliable, evidence-based investigation, dispel uncertainties and guarantee that justice is achieved by meticulously examining all the facts.

The police pledged that under CP Sani-Omolori’s stewardship, the command would maintain high professional standards, accountability and justice. He called on members of the public to disregard this misinformation and always verify information through official channels.
