The Ekiti State Police Command has arraigned a man, Akinola Ajewole (23), in a magistrates’ court in Ado-Ekiti over alleged possession of Indian hemp.
The prosecutor, Inspector Adejare Elijah, told the court that the suspect on May 26, at about 3pm in Ado-Ekiti had in his possession weeds suspected to be hemp contrary to Section 5(b) of the Indian Hemp Act LFN 2004.
Counsel to the defendant, Barr O. G. Abiola, urged the court to grant his client bail.

The Magistrate, D. M. Babalogbon, granted bail of N50,000 with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case to July 7.
