Police arraign 2 men over attempted murder

The Osun State Police Command yesterday arraigned two men, Ajibola Kamorudeen and Mohammad Ismael, before the Modakeke magistrate court over attempted murder and causing grievous harm to the complainant, Ajayi Tunde.

The police prosecutor, Assistant Superintendent Idoko John, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on May 25, 2020 at about 5.30am at Atamudo-Oba, Modakeke, Osun State.

John said the accused persons armed themselves with cutlasses and other dangerous weapons and attempted to kill Tunde by inflicting deep cuts on him.

The prosecutor also said that the accused persons cut off Tunde’s left hand, causing him grievous harm, with intent to disable him.  Kamorudeen and Ismael pleaded not guilty.

The defence counsel, Joseph Amori, applied for bail for his clients in the most liberal terms.  The magistrate, Module Awodele, granted the accused persons bail in the sum of N500,000, with two sureties in like sum, and adjourned the case till June 22, 2020 for mention.
