Police arraign ex-convict over burglary

The Osun State Police Command on Wednesday arraigned a 20-year-old ex-convict, Tunde Olorunsola, for burglary.

The police prosecutor, Assistant Superintendent John Idoko, told the court that Olorunsola committed the offence on August 24, 2020 at about 6pm at Prime Area, Ofatedo, Osogbo.

Idoko said the defendant entered the house of Mrs Banke Oyeniyi, damaged the window, the door padlocks and the roof asbestos, all valued at N500,000.

The prosecutor added that Olorunsola was an ex-convict and had many cases recorded against him at the police station, adding that he also had a record of jumping bail.

The defendant, who described himself as a scavenger, pleaded not guilty to the offence levelled against him.

The magistrate, Mr Opeyemi Badmus, granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 and adjourned the case till September 2, 2020.
