2019: Police warn politicians in Bayelsa against violence, thuggery
The police at the Lion Building, Lagos Island, have arraigned in court a 21-year-old suspect, Mutiu Sasore, who they said has been giving residents of the area sleepless nights.
Sasore, who appeared before the Igbosere, Lagos, magistrate court yesterday, was alleged to have conducted himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of the peace on Freeman Street, Lagos Island, on July 7, 2018 at about 10.00pm.
Police prosecutor Cyriacus Osiji told the court that the accused allegedly did grievous harm to one Gerald Nwaneri by cutting off his fourth finger of the left hand, as well as stealing his N52,000 cash, Infinix phone valued at N50,000 and a Nokia phone valued at N10,000.
Furthermore, the accused person allegedly wounded one Toheed Akorede by stabbing him on the forehead and stealing from him a Viva phone valued at N20,000.
The police also accused Sasore of conspiring with other persons still on the run to unlawfully display arms in the public at the Okepopo area of Lagos Island on July 13, this year.
The accused pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
Magistrate Ope Agbe admitted the accused to N500,000 bail with two sureties and fixed further hearing in the case till October 15, 2018.
