The Osun State Police Command on Tuesday arraigned seven men for allegedly attacking the wife of Osun State Governor, Alhaja Kafayat Oyetola, around Owode via Osogbo, Osun State.
The accused persons include Omolola Paul, Rasaki Hammed, Soliu Waheed, Tiamiyu Basiru, Olayiwola John, Owoade Mutiu and Ibrahim Tunde.
They were charged with conspiracy to commit felony, serious assault and malicious damage.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Asanbe Kayode, told the court that the accused and others at large caused a breach of the peace by attacking Oyetola’s wife and inflicting injuries on her aide, Benson Oyebode, and one Femi Alabi, a Department of State Services official attached to the First Lady.
He added that the defendants damaged the cars in the convoy of the the wife of the governor.
He said the offences contravened sections 516, 249, 451(b), 356(2) of the criminal code cap 34 Vol. II laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.
The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the offences and their counsel, S.A Gbenle, prayed the court to grant them bail.
In his ruling, Magistrate I.R Salami granted them bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties each in like sum. The case was adjourned to 26th September, 2022.
