Police arraign son for threatening mother’s life

The police on Wednesday arraigned a 26-year-old man, Adesoji Babatunde, in an Ile-Ife magistrates’ court for allegedly threatening his mother’s life.

 The prosecutor, ASP Emmanuel Abdullahi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence in Ita-Osa area, Ile-Ife, on Tuesday at about 4pm.

 According to him, the defendant allegedly threatened the life of the complainant, one Madam Jolaade Awotoye, with a bottle for refusing to give him money.

 The prosecutor said the offence contravened Sections 86 and 249 (d) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun 2002.

 The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of breach of peace and threat to life.

 The defence counsel, Mr Adeleke Dada, prayed the court to grant his client bail in the most liberal terms, promising he would not jump bail.

 The magistrate Abosede Sarumi granted the defendant bail in the sum of N250,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till December 16 for hearing. (NAN)
