The Nigeria Police Force has arraigned three men who allegedly burgled a house in Apo area of Abuja and robbed its occupants of their possessions at gunpoint.

The three men, Abdullahi Usman, Hassan Umar and Isah Kasimu were arraigned before an FCT High Court in Maitama by the FCT Commissioner of Police.

They face a four-count charge bordering on armed robbery, an offence punishable with death sentence under the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act.

Police alleged that the three accused and others at large on March 24th committed the offence when they broke the burglary proof and enter into the house of one Frederick O. Alaiyegbami with two guns and other dangerous weapons.

They allegedly carted away one Toyota Camry valued at N1.4 million belonging to the man’s wife, Comfort Alaiyegbami, one plasma flat screen Sony TV valued at N120,000, three laptops, seven phones, wrist watches and jewelleries.

The three were also said to have tied up one John Istifanus, a security guard in the building and robbed him of his mobile phone.

Both Umar and Kasimu were also charged with the offence of receiving stolen property, in that they allegedly received one Plasma TV, DVD Home Theatre, three laptops, and different phones from Usman while knowing or having reasons to believe that the said properties were unlawfully obtained.

They pleaded not guilty to the offence and at the instance of the Police prosecutor, Barrister Patrick Ohele, the court ordered that the three be remanded in Kuje prisons until the determination of the charge brought against them.
